We were all shocked and saddened by the news that our good friend and member Ben Slack had passed away in hospital on 26th February 2025.

Ben was a valued member of the Southdown Sheep Society, especially of the West Midlands group for which together with his partner Kate had a very successful, well attended open day. Ben was in his element looking after everyone as he always tried to do.

Ben, as he did with everything in his life, gave the Southdown Sheep Society his time and enthusiasm.

He supported the first sale at Patrick Goldsworthy's farm travelling a long distance with some sheep to contribute to the sale.

He became a judge and regularly competed at a variety of shows big and small to support the Society. He was respected for the quality of his sheep with which he had great success.

Ben will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
