FLOCK COMPETITION

Class A   Flock of 40 ewes or over.
Winner is awarded the Berkhampstead Rose Bowl and £15
   
 Class B  Flock of 10 - 39 ewes
Winner is awarded the Gaddesden Trophy and £15
   
 Class C  NOVICE Competition, not to have won a first prize
Winner is awarded the Frank Grantham Trophy and £15
   
 Tufton Beamish Trophy to the Champion Flock
   
 Hobgen Salver for the best intake of shearling ewes
 
 Miller Hallett Trophy for the best ewe lambs
 
 Paynter Wool Trophy for the flock with the best wool
 
 Noakes Trophy for the best three lambs of each sex,
sired by a named ram, present and shown
 
 The Jim Cresswell Trophy for the best ram or group of rams
 
 All trophies to be held for one year

Judging to take place in the final two weeks of September.

Terms and Conditions

1. All entries must be on the official entry form. No entries will be accepted by telephone. Entry fee (£10) must be paid with the entry form.
ENTER ONE CLASS ONLY
2. The flockmaster must state on the entry form the total number of ewes mated, or intended to be mated, for this season.
  All registered Southdowns, including rams plus lambs eligible to be registered, MUST BE SHOWN
3. The flock MUST be all together for the judge, and the venue stated on the entry form.
4. All Southdowns must be penned.
5. Hired Southdowns will be considered part of the flock but the flockmaster must tell the judge that they are hired.
6. The three lambs of each sex sired by a named ram must be penned.
7. All Southdown ewes must be shown. Minimum of three ewes. A minimum of three ewe lambs plus one for every ten ewes above ten flock ewes must be shown.
8. In the NOVICE class the ten females must be made up of at least seven ewes, the remainder may be ewe lambs.
9. The decision of Council in any dispute is final.
10. Neither the Council of the Society, nor its officers or the judge or anyone with the judge will be held liable for any death of people or animals or any injury or any damage which may be caused to people, animals, premises or equipment whilst the judge or anyone with the judge is present or in any preparation or dispersal.
11. Entry is deemed acceptance of these conditions without any reservation.
