Backload UK, now one of the UK’s leading livestock haulage specialists has announced the launch of a new and unique service designed to improve the efficiency and cost of livestock haulage. Using a nationwide database of hauliers and farmers, Backload UK are now able to offer a service which co-ordinates the requirements of hauliers with the livestock haulage requirements of farmers.
From its national operations centre in Dorchester, Backload UK will use its extensive nationwide network of hauliers and farmers to negotiate the most economical and efficient haulage service. This will allow hauliers to make use of both legs of their journey, therefore reducing their running costs as well as the cost to farmers.
In addition to providing benefits such as increased sourcing potential for quality breeding stock and the co-ordination of multiple pick-ups, the service may also assist farmers in accessing new markets that may have previously been unavailable due to distance or cost restrictions.
The scheme, which has been praised by industry members, is the first of its kind in the UK, and farmers are able to register for free. Once registered, farmers can call the Backload operations centre, where details of their haulage requirements will be cross-checked with those hauliers seeking the most direct and economic match in the area.
Once a suitable match has been found, Backload UK will contact the farmer with the most suitable haulier and quote. South West Regional Director of the NFU, Anthony Gibson is one of many industry members welcoming the new service. He commented, “I like the fact that Backload UK will be making efficient use of resources that are already in being and therefore reduce costs to haulage operators and, more importantly, haulage users”.
