A.G.M. & Open Day

Held at Green Cross Farm, Churt, Surrey, the home of Philip and Rosemary Whitcombe, on Saturday, August 13th.

MINUTES of the AGM of the Southdown Sheep Society
held at Green Cross Farm, Churt, Farnham. Surrey GU10 2ND on Saturday the 13th August, 2005 at 2. 30 pm.

PRESENT Mrs Susan Harmer President, in the chair, and 104 members and friends.

APOLOGIES: Mr & Mrs Cyril Wise, F K Mitchell TD, L Newman, Mr & Mr J D Goode, Mrs Joan Hayes, Mrs Lynne Brooks, Jonathan Long and Miriam Parker.

MINUTES of the AGM held on the 14th April 2004, as circulated were confirmed and signed.

FINANCIAL STATEMENT for the year ending 31st December 2004, as circulated, were presented by Mr Neil Stainthorpe, the Hon. Treasurer, who reported on a profit of £2036. The Accounts have a new layout as required by the Companies Act with more information given. He reported that the 2005 accounts would be different and may be in deficit as with the retirement of the Secretary there would be more expenditure. The Accounts were received without any questions and adopted unanimously.

ANNUAL REPORT of COUNCIL was presented by Mr Alan Mummery, the Chairman and received without question. He reported that the Secretary would be retiring on the 31st March, 2006 and that the closing date for applications was the 1st August 2005 and that three applications had been received. The matter would be decided at the October Council meeting.

PRESIDENT 2005: Mr Philip Whitcombe would be the President and Mrs Sharon Pond the President elect.

VOTE of THANKS to the retiring President Mrs Susan Harmer was proposed by Mrs Anne Lambert and she was unanimously made a Vice President.

COUNCIL Elections. On a vote for six places on Council the following were elected:

Mr H George Hughes 46 votes, Mrs Gale Sprake 46 votes, Mr Irving Pallister 40 votes, Mr David Burden 35 votes, Mr George Elliott 34 votes and Mr Adam Brown 25 votes.

Mr Andrew Beckett had 22 votes and was not elected

OPEN DISCUSSION took place on the merchandise and the Secretary’s forthcoming book.

THANK YOU TO Mr & Mrs Philip Whitcombe for an excellent event was agreed unanimously
